This Privacy Policy explains how BiasharaPOS (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and safeguards information when you use our point-of-sale application, website and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
Two kinds of people this covers
If you are a business using BiasharaPOS, we hold your data and this policy describes what we do with it. If you are someone who ordered from a shop running on BiasharaPOS, that shop decides what happens to your details — we hold them on the shop’s behalf. Ask the shop you ordered from first; we will help them answer you.
Information we collect
From businesses using the Service:
- Account details — your name, business name, phone number and email address when you register.
- Business data — products, prices, inventory, sales records and the fiscal receipts you generate.
- Staff records — the users you create, their roles, and the till shifts and actions recorded against them.
- Usage data — device type, app version and basic analytics that help us improve the Service.
From people ordering on a shop’s online storefront, on that shop’s behalf:
- Order details — your name, phone number, what you ordered and, for delivery, your address and any landmark you give.
- Proof of delivery — the name of whoever received the order and, where a signature is used instead of the handover code, that signature.
- Messages — the text messages we send you about your order, and whether you have asked us to stop sending them.
You do not need an account to order from a shop. We do not ask shoppers for a password, and we do not build a profile of you across different shops.
How we use your information
We use your information to operate the Service, record sales, generate fiscal receipts built to the TRA VFD specification, pass orders between a shop and its customers, provide customer support, send important service notices and improve our features. We do not sell your personal or business data to third parties, and we do not use it to advertise to you.
Payments
BiasharaPOS does not process payments and does not hold card details. When a sale is paid by M-Pesa, Mixx by Yas, Airtel Money, cash or card, the money moves through the business’s own account or terminal, and we record only which method was used and any reference number entered.
Who else sees your data
We share data only with the providers that run parts of the Service for us, and only as far as each needs:
- Hosting and database providers, who store the Service and its data.
- A messaging provider, which delivers the text messages we send about orders and receipts, and therefore receives the recipient’s phone number and the message.
- An artificial-intelligence provider, which powers the chat assistant on this website. Whatever you type into that chat window is sent to them to generate a reply — so please do not put passwords, payment details or anyone’s personal information into it.
- An analytics provider, which measures how this website is used. See our Cookie Policy for details and how to limit it.
Some of these providers operate outside Tanzania, so your data may be processed abroad. We also disclose information to the Tanzania Revenue Authority where fiscalisation requires it, and otherwise where the law requires it.
Data security & retention
We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, and database rules that keep each business’s records separate from every other business’s. Sales and fiscal records are retained for as long as required by Tanzanian tax law. You can request deletion of your account data, subject to those legal retention obligations.
Your rights
Under Tanzania’s Personal Data Protection Act, you may access, correct or export your data, and ask us to delete information we are not legally required to keep. You can stop order messages at any time by replying STOP, or ACHA in Swahili. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below — and if you ordered from a shop running on BiasharaPOS, contact that shop first.
